Farmers ready to go to any extent to retrieve their lands under Pulichintala, Harish warns AP

Hyderabad: Minister for Irrigation Tanneer Harish Rao today shot a letter to his AP counterpart Devineni Uma Maheshwar Rao seeking to ensure maintenance of MDDL level of +42.670 at the Pulichintala project in order to save 30,000 acres of standing crops in Mellacheruvu and Mattampally mandal of Nalgonda districts.

Harish Rao, in his letter to the AP Minister for Irrigation brought to the notice of the plights of farmers whose crops are withering away due to water shortage as the water level at the project is now below pumping level at +32.77 with a capacity of 1.557 TMC as against the MDDL level of +42.670 whereas the capacity of the reservoir is 9,540 TMC, Harish Rao said.

He further elaborated that crops spread over Chintapalem, Buggamandaram, Revuru under Shiva Ganga Lift Society besides Amararam, Choutapally, Yerragattud Tanda and Gurrapodu are suffering due to water supply from 8 Lift Irrigation schemes which require measures to save the standing crops there.

He also expressed concern over the poor response of KRMB even though the govt. had complained the same earlier of 17th of this month and warned that the farmers might go to any extent to retrieve back their lands sacrificed earlier for submergence if their objective of maintaining the MDDL is not maintained by the AP Government.
