In yet another mega event, the city of Hyderabad is set to host the third edition of the Indywood Film Carnival in Ramoji Film city from December 1-4.
Announcing this at a press conference here today, the Chairman of Telangana State Film and Television Development Corporation (TSFTDC) Rammohan Rao said that the carnival will be inaugurated by the Vice President Venkaiah Naidu along with the Union Minister of State for Tourism Alphons Kannanthanam, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and the Telangana Minister for Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav. The carnival second in series in Telangana is expected to draw in 50,000 footfalls, 5000 trade delegates, 500 plus investors, 300 exhibitors and 2500 plus talents from across the country.
The Commissioner I&PR and Managing Director TSFTDC Navin Mittal expressed the confidence that ‘Indywood Film Market’, will provide a platform for local filmmakers, producers, investors, technology developers and the industry stakeholders, the platform would act as an epic centre of Indian films to global domain. The carnival attracts the cream of young talents to Ramoji opening up the talent hunt event where students from colleges across the country can showcase their talent, he said.
The Chairman of the Carnival and UAE-based NRI industrialist Sohan Roy who spearheaded the Project Indywood said that the carnival is being promoted by 2000 Indian billionaires and corporates across the country only to promote film business in the country besides finding latest talents. Elaborating on the objective behind organising the carnival, Sohan Roy said that he intends to initiate setting up of 10,000 new 4K projection multiplex screens, 100,000 2K/4K projection home cinemas, 8K/4Kfilm studios, 100 animation/VFX studios and film schools conforming to international standards.
Billion Dollar club
The inauguration of Billionaires Club will be the major highlight of the film carnival. More than 50 billionaires of Indian origin and over 500 investors from across the globe are likely to attend the inauguration, he said.
World of Cinema
The other programs of the carnival are - All Lights India International Film Festival (ALIIFF), Indywood Film Market (IFM), Indywood Talent Hunt (ITH) and Indywood Excellence Awards.
While All Lights India International Film Festival (ALIIFF) will screen 115 plus movies from 50 countries. The third edition of ALIIFF has received over 1000 film submissions from over 80 countries. Among this, 115 plus films have been shortlisted for screening in six competition and 8 plus non-competition categories respectively.
Renowned filmmaker and Padma Bhushan recipient Shyam Benegal is chairing the event as the Festival Director. ALIIFF, 2017 will also showcase a retrospective of Shyam Benegal as a tribute to the master filmmaker. Another highlight will be the trilogy of 11 Palanca Award Winner Filipino Director Jun Robles Lana. ALIIFF will also have a special section dedicated to animation and environmental movies this year, said Sohan Roy.
